Ruslan Rotan, who was recently named the best coach of the 2024/2025 season in Ukraine, might take charge of Baku’s “Sabah” football club.

According to Offsideplus.az, this information was shared during Ukraine’s football talk show “TaToTake.” It was reported that Rotan has traveled to Baku to hold negotiations and met with the management of “Sabah”.

After a short trip, the 43-year-old coach is also planning to consider another job offer in his homeland. He is expected to meet with the management of “Polissya”, a club that finished fourth in the Ukrainian Premier League this season.

It should be noted that Rotan’s current team, Oleksandriya, won silver medals in the Ukrainian Premier League just a few days ago, even finishing ahead of traditional powerhouse Shakhtar Donetsk, which ended the season in third place for the first time in 25 years.

As a player, Ruslan Rotan is also well-known among Azerbaijani football fans. The talented midfielder, then captain of Dnipro, played twice against Qarabağ during the 2014/2015 UEFA Europa League group stage (1:0; 1:2). That season, Dnipro went all the way to the Europa League final, where they narrowly lost to Sevilla 2:3.

Currently, “Sabah” is managed by Russian coach Vasili Berezutski. Under his leadership, the “Owls” finished 5th in the Misli Premier League and are set to play in the Azerbaijan Cup final on May 31.
