Sumgayit closed the 2024/25 Misli Premier League season on a high note, defeating Sabail 4–1 in their final match — marking the club’s fifth-ever victory by a large margin.

According to Offsideplus.az, all of Sumgayit’s away wins by a big scoreline have come with identical goal differences. The club had previously defeated Kapaz (2017/18) 3–0, and Sabah (2018/19), Sabail, and Turan Tovuz (both in 2023/24) with the same 4–1 scoreline. With this latest result, Sumgayit has equaled its record for the biggest away win in club history.

The team, nicknamed “The Chemists,” also ended a long winless streak. Their 2–1 win over Turan Tovuz in Matchday 27 marked their first victory in the fourth round of the season. Prior to that, Sumgayit had gone eight matches without a win, drawing twice and losing six times.
