The 24th World Karting Championship (World Grand Final) was held, in which Davin Jafarov, a young talent of Azerbaijani motorsport and one of the three drivers representing Portugal, participated.

Offsideplus.az reports that the race took place at the "International South Garda" track in Lonato, Italy. D. Jafarov started for the BirelArt Portugal team in the BMB category and the world championship for the first time. Davin, who was forced to start from 32nd place due to a minor accident in the qualifying stage of this race, held against the backdrop of difficult weather conditions and high competition, showed a magnificent performance and advanced to the semi-finals and final stages. In the final, he broke the record of 14 overtakes of the Italian pilot Lorenzo Pignanelli by making 24 overtakes and at the same time demonstrated the fastest lap of the race. Davin Jafarov finally finished 8th.

After the race, the management of the "AW Racing" team met with Davin and offered him to join their ranks. However, the young pilot has chosen to continue his fight with the BirelArt team for now. Davin is expected to participate in two more international competitions before the end of the year.

“The World Championship race in Lonato, Italy has ended. It was my first time competing in this level of competition, on this track and in the BMB category. Unfortunately, I didn't have the opportunity to come here and do some practical training before the race. 607 competitors from all over the world in 5 categories participated in this very difficult championship. The race was very intense, but I overcame it and advanced to the semi-finals. However, we had some minor incidents and chassis problems in the qualifying, which forced me to start from 32nd place and I finished 8th overall, having passed 24 drivers. It is really difficult to start from the back on a wet track and achieve this. I managed to pass 24 drivers in a 15-lap race, which is a very short time and difficult to do, so it is a great achievement for me and my team. Many other drivers and team managers came to our tent to meet and talk to me. International They were surprised to see an Azerbaijani driver participating in karting competitions at this level for the first time and demonstrating such a performance. There were world and European champions among the participants, and the weather conditions also made the race very difficult. It was an incredible honor and experience for me to show how strong we are, to represent my country. I am doing my best to prove how Azerbaijan can be at the top of the world in motor sports, and seeing great support from my compatriots inspires me even more.

It should be noted that 607 pilots from different countries of the world participated in the competition, which also included European and world champions.
