Eyden Makkarti, who scored the only goal for Sabah in their match against Borussia, spoke to Offsideplus.az after the game.
He began by commenting on his goal and the match:
"Of course, the result is not good for us. There is a lot we can learn from this game. However, scoring my first goal in the UEFA Champions League and doing it with Sabah is a significant event for me. It will hold a special place in my career and is a moment I will never forget."
There will be many celebrating his goal back in South Africa. Makkarti also expressed his gratitude to fans and family in his home country:
"This is a moment everyone will remember and share in the joy. I see the great excitement on social media; I am following what is happening. I want to send my love to all the fans in my homeland, to everyone who has supported me, and to my family. I see every bit of their support, and I am very grateful for it."
He also discussed the atmosphere, which was noted for having more fans compared to the match against Slavia, and the active presence of Borussia supporters:
"I think the atmosphere was very good. I have played in stadiums with a capacity of 100,000 fans in my country. Therefore, the atmosphere does not affect me. When I am on the pitch, I focus all my attention on the game."
