Qarabag head coach Gurban Gurbanov attended the press conference after the Champions League play-off second leg match against Newcastle (2-3).

Offsideplus.az reports that despite the defeat, the specialist emphasized he was satisfied with the team's fight throughout the season. Gurbanov stated that the players showed character and stayed in the game despite psychological pressure. He also thanked the fans of both teams for their support.

He noted that playing against English clubs is a great experience. He admitted that modern football has developed like a science and that we lag behind Europe in infrastructure and recovery.

Explaining that he preferred a five-man defense due to the opponent's physical superiority, the specialist linked the goals conceded from set-pieces to the opponent's individual quality and the structural requirements of modern football.

The experienced coach concluded: "Although the team is physically and mentally tired after this marathon, they will recover and work for better results in the coming years. We have always tried to play bravely and we succeeded. This tournament was a great lesson and an unforgettable experience for us."
