“I expected a much more intense battle in the final matches.”
Bedri Meric, the head coach of Sheki basketball club, shared these thoughts in an exclusive statement to Offsideplus.az.
The specialist weighed in on the ongoing Azerbaijan Basketball League final series:
“Absheron Lions haven't been able to compete with a full roster, particularly due to injuries and illnesses. The team's leader, James Frazier, is still playing and giving his all despite his injury. The absence of center Sadettin Donat creates problems in the internal rotation and weakens them against Sabah’s tall players. In the last game, Gediminas Orelik likely didn't play due to illness, which made things very difficult for the team. Sabah, on the other hand, is making great use of their rotations and strong squad. It looks like Sabah will win the final series.”
It should be noted that the third game between Sabah and Absheron Lions will take place today. The match at the Baku Sports Palace is scheduled to tip off at 19:00. The "Owls" secured victories in the previous two encounters.
