Today, on October 8, the official closing ceremony of the III CIS Games took place at the Ganja Stadium.

Offsideplus.az reports that Samir Sharifov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the III CIS Games, delivered a speech at the solemn event.

“Athletes from 8 countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States and 5 more countries participating in the Games demonstrated their skills and determination in competitions in 23 sports. They competed for 235 sets of individual and team awards, giving millions of fans and sports lovers unforgettable moments of joy, excitement and pride. We express our gratitude to all athletes who participated in the III CIS Games for these moments and the feelings of pride they gave. The athletes' fighting spirit, dedication and will inspire us and create the foundation for their future successes,” the Chairman of the Committee said.

Then, to the sounds of the official song of the Games, the CIS flag was lowered. The flag was lowered by the winners of the III CIS Games - Nihad Rahimov (sambo), Magsud Mahsudov (trampoline gymnastics), Turgut Hasanov (karate), Tarlan Gurbanaliyev (chovken), Ogtay Huseynov (swimming), Ali Nazarov (Greco-Roman wrestling), Humay Dadashova (taekwondo), Guler Huseynova (boxing), Konul Eyvazli (judo). The flag will be handed over to the CIS Executive Committee to be presented to the country that will host the next games.

After this, the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played.

The closing ceremony continued with the artistic part - with performances by the “Natig” rhythm group, People's Artist of Azerbaijan Aygun Kazimova, Aysel Teymurzadeh, Nigar Jamal, Eldar Gasimov, Chingiz Mustafayev, Nadir Rustamli and other stars.

At the end, there was a fireworks display.
