A regular meeting of the AFFA Executive Committee has been held at the SOCAR administrative building.
Offsideplus.az reports that AFFA President Rovshan Najaf provided information on the meeting's agenda. Following this, the items on the agenda were discussed.
Initially, AFFA General Secretary Jahangir Farajullayev gave an overview of the first-ever FIFA U-15 Boys' World Championship and Festival, which is scheduled to take place in Azerbaijan this year following FIFA's hosting decision.
Subsequently, the outcomes of the 2025/2026 domestic football season were reviewed. The members of the Executive Committee shared their views on the organization, tournament quality, and general development directions throughout the season.
During the meeting, AFFA's new Technical Director, Edmond Claus, was presented. He possesses extensive experience in youth development, academy setup and management, education and methodology, as well as scouting. In particular, it was emphasized that his work at the Ajax academy in the Netherlands, along with his experience with various youth national teams in the Netherlands and China, will make a significant contribution to his work in Azerbaijan.
Elchin Mammadov, Deputy General Secretary of AFFA, provided updates on the operations of the newly established Football Development Department and the certification rules for academies based on the 5-star model. An exchange of ideas took place regarding these regulations, which will be implemented starting next season.
Later on, General Secretary Jahangir Farajullayev introduced a new approach regarding the usage rules and control mechanisms for the financial aid allocated to Misli Premier League clubs under grant agreements for grassroots and youth football development. The matter was put to a vote and approved by the Executive Committee.
The meeting also featured discussions on the proposed new format for the Elite Training project. Following observations made by the Executive Committee members, directives were issued to further refine the project.
