"My initial impressions are positive."

Offsideplus.az reports that these words were spoken by Rui Jorge, the head coach of the Azerbaijan U-20 national football team, during a statement to journalists at the training camp in Gabala. The Portuguese specialist shared his thoughts regarding the preparation process:

"Our training sessions are going well. We are very satisfied with the progress of the process. The players are very motivated.

We did not hold a friendly match during this stage because our goal was to get to know the players better and familiarize them with our training principles. Before playing friendlies, we need to know where we are starting from. I am pleased with the players' approach; they are very eager, which fits our game philosophy perfectly.

We will build a team that every Azerbaijani will be proud of. We are participating in the World Cup as a host nation. We are aware that there is a gap between us and other teams."

It should be noted that the U-20 team will remain at the training camp in Gabala until April 26. The purpose of the camp is to ensure the national team is prepared at the highest level for the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.
