"The next preparation process is scheduled to take place from the end of May until early June."
Offsideplus.az reports that these words were stated by the Executive Vice-President of AFFA, Sarkhan Hajiyev, in his statement to journalists. The official evaluated the training camp of the Azerbaijan U-20 national football team held in Gabala:
"The training camp in Gabala will last for two weeks. This time, at the request of head coach Rui Jorge, no friendly matches were played. However, friendly matches are planned for the second training camp. A final decision regarding the team has not been made yet.
The team conducts two weeks of training within a month. As you know, some players in the squad compete in the reserve leagues. Following our discussions with the PFL, the championship was postponed. The cancellation of the Reserve League is on the agenda. Even if it is not canceled, there might be a change in the format."
It should be noted that the U-20 team will be at the training camp in Gabala until April 26. The team will compete in the FIFA U-20 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan in 2027.
