Azerbaijani judoka Ahmad Yusifov (60 kg) has claimed his first-ever Grand Slam title.
According to Offsideplus.az, the athlete achieved this milestone at the tournament held in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.
In a compelling final match, Yusifov defeated his compatriot Balabay Aghayev. As a result, Aghayev had to settle for the silver medal.
Earlier in the competition, several other Azerbaijani judokas concluded their campaigns:
Nizami Imranov and Turan Bayramov (both 66 kg)
Konul Aliyeva and Shafag Hamidova (both 48 kg)
Leyla Aliyeva (52 kg)
The Tashkent Grand Slam is scheduled to conclude on March 1.
