The regulations for the new season in the Azerbaijan Basketball League have been determined.

Offsideplus.az reports that the 31st championship will start on September 28.

According to the regulations, the championship games will be held in a four-round system, consisting of 20 rounds. The regular season games will take place in groups A and B. The groups in which the clubs will compete have been determined based on their final results in the last season.

Group A: "Sabah", "Neftchi" IC, "Sheki", "Absheron Lions", NTD, "Ganja"

Group B: "Nakhchivan", "Ordu" IC, "Sarhadchi" PIK, "Sumgayit", "Guba", "Lankaran"

The main condition for the participation of 4 foreign and 1 local basketball player on the court in the games of group A of the regular championship will be the presence of 4 foreign and 1 local basketball player. In Group B games, including the 15th round, 3 foreign and 2 local basketball players are required to be on the court, and from the 16th round onwards, 4 foreign and 1 local basketball player are required.

Along with the clubs that finished in the top 3 places in Group A during the regular season, the team that finished in the top 10 of Group B will qualify for the 1/4 finals of the playoffs. The teams that took the other places in Groups A and B will face each other in the 1/8 finals of the playoffs. The clubs that have won the fastest two wins in the 1/8 finals will qualify for the 1/4 finals. Both the 1/4 final and semi-final series will last until 2 wins. The club that has won the fastest 3 wins in the final series will be the champion of the Azerbaijan Basketball League (ABL).

It should be noted that, based on the final results of the championship, the clubs that finished the season in the top 8 will compete in the 1st league (ABL) from the next season, while the clubs that took 9th-12th places will compete in the second league (ABL 2), which will be organized for the first time in the country's basketball.
