The 11th Vugar Hashimov Memorial, dedicated to the memory of the late chess player, European champion Vugar Hashimov, will be held from December 9 to 11.

Offsideplus.az reports that 6 chess players will compete in rapid and blitz competitions in the tournament, which will be organized by the Vugar Hashimov Chess Foundation, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, as well as the Azerbaijan Chess Federation.

Among the smart ones, Jan Nepomnyashi (FIDE), Amin Tabatabai (Iran), Vladimir Fedoseyev (Slovenia), Nodirbek Yakubboyev (Uzbekistan), Rauf Mammadov and Aydin Suleymanli will test their strength in 2 rounds.

The city of Khankendi will host the 11th Memorial.

It should be noted that the Vugar Hashimov Memorial was first held in 2014. Since 2023, the tournament has received the status of a qualifying round for the FIDE World Championship.
