There are only a few days left until the start of the Formula 1 Qatar Airways Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2025, which will be held in our capital on September 19-21.
Offsideplus.az reports that during the race week, the roar of engines will once again be heard on the streets of Baku, and our capital will become the center of world motorsport.
More than 12,000 foreign tourists are expected to arrive in Baku during the race days. According to official statistics, more than 80 percent of the spectators last year were foreigners. Many guests even came to our capital simply to experience the atmosphere of “Formula 1” without buying a ticket. According to figures provided by Formula 1, 55 percent of fans are ready to recommend the Azerbaijan Grand Prix to their friends, and 72 percent plan to come again in the next two years.
According to indicators, the average expenditure of one foreign fan exceeds 2,200 US dollars, which makes the Grand Prix an important driving force for the development of tourism and entrepreneurship.
In 2024, the number of people watching the Azerbaijan Grand Prix live exceeded 86 million, and the number of people interested in the race on various platforms exceeded 3.9 billion viewers.
Taking into account the interest in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, two new stands were built in 2025. Tickets for 10 of the 12 stands have already been completely sold out. The total capacity will exceed 20 thousand people, which further strengthens Baku's position on the Formula 1 map.
Thousands of people have been involved in the preparation for the race. More than 2 thousand engineers, technicians, assemblers and logisticians are involved in the construction and installation work. For the convenience of residents, work is carried out mainly at night. During the race week, an additional 1,500 employees, 2,000 volunteers and 1,400 marshals join this team.
If in the early years, most of the work fell to foreign companies, today the entire process is carried out by local contractors. This creates conditions for the creation of new jobs and the increase in the experience of local specialists. Thus, the Grand Prix is not only a sports competition, but also a powerful development platform for the country's economy.
Baku City Circuit Operating Company CEO Magsud Farzullayev invites fans to enjoy both the exciting race and the Azerbaijani hospitality:
“Last year was a record-breaking one. Thanks to global interest, the Azerbaijan Grand Prix is now one of the must-see races on the Formula 1 calendar. And 2025 will be even more spectacular. The event will have the largest capacity in history thanks to two new stands. For the first time, an exclusive “Formula 1 Champions Club” will operate, offering pit lane views, paddock tours and other unique opportunities. This will give even more fans the opportunity to watch the Azerbaijan Grand Prix live.
The world’s strongest drivers are back in Baku, and unforgettable moments await us! True to tradition, Baku City Circuit is ready to surprise. If the speed on the track seems too low for you, just wait for the night: on September 19, DJ Anyma will perform, and on September 20, world stars Martin Garrix and Glass Animals will present a spectacular show to fans "they will."
