Sabah played their first leg in the UEFA Champions League play-off round.

According to Offsideplus.az, the Azerbaijani side faced Hapoel Beer Sheva of Israel.

The match, held at the Giulești Stadium in Bucharest, Romania, ended in a 2-1 defeat for Sabah.

Veljko Simić opened the scoring for Sabah in the 6th minute. However, Javon East leveled for the Israeli side in the 43rd minute, before Igor Zlatanović scored the winning goal in the 79th minute.

The return leg between the two teams will take place on August 25 at 20:45 at the Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium.
