Sabah's head coach Valdas Dambrauskas has hailed his team's elimination of Finland's KuPS in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League as a historic achievement.

According to Offsideplus.az, the specialist congratulated his team, the fans, and the Azerbaijani football community during the post-match press conference:

"This success is not only significant for our club but also a historic event for Azerbaijani football. I feel a great sense of pride in overcoming a tough challenge. KuPS is a good team, and their fans can be proud of them," he stated.

The Lithuanian coach admitted that the opponent appeared stronger in the first half:

"Despite the minimal advantage we gained in the first match, the opponent was very well prepared for this encounter and looked more dangerous in the first half. We spoke with the players during the break and made some adjustments. It is encouraging that they successfully executed the tasks given to them on the pitch. In the second half, we took full control of the game, and after scoring, our dominance increased further. We are very pleased to have progressed after two matches. Now we will return to Baku and prepare for the next match. Achieving success in European competitions requires great energy and preparation," Dambrauskas emphasised.

It is worth noting that Sabah defeated KuPS in both matches of the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round (1:0, 2:0), securing their place in the next stage. With this result, the Baku representative has also officially confirmed their participation in at least the main stage of the UEFA Conference League.
