“Qarabag’s main advantage is playing in front of their home fans.”
Former Horsemen player Afran Ismayilov shared these views in an interview with Offsideplus.az. The 37-year-old former Azerbaijani international midfielder discussed the upcoming UEFA Champions League league phase clash:
“The chances are still equal. Everyone respects Qarabag and sees a certain advantage on our side. Eintracht is currently going through a crisis period, but we must remember that they are a German team, and matches against such opponents are always difficult. Playing in front of the home crowd is a crucial factor for Qarabag. I believe our team will strive to put in one of its best performances.”
Ismayilov emphasized that the opponent is by no means weak: “Since Eintracht comes straight from their domestic league, they will step onto the pitch fully match-fit. Qarabag, on the other hand, has only had training camps and friendly matches during this period. It is true that the opponent has undergone a coaching change, which some see as a problem. However, experience shows that when a coach changes, players are usually more motivated, trying to prove themselves to the new manager. The points to be earned in this match are extremely important for us, and I believe we can secure all three points.”
It should be noted that the Qarabag vs. Eintracht match will kick off tonight at 21:45 at the Tofig Bahramov Republican Stadium.
