Our beach wrestlers, who achieved a historic success at the final stage of the World Series held in Katerini, Greece, have returned home.

According to Offsideplus.az, a welcoming ceremony was organised at Heydar Aliyev International Airport for our team, which became world champions in the team event for the first time in history.

Our wrestlers secured 2 gold medals (Vusal Aliyev, Ashraf Ashirov) and 2 bronze medals (Jamal Feyziyev, Sahib Dadashov/Rubail Ibrahimli), finishing in first place overall in the team standings.

The head coach of the national team, Oyan Nazariani, stated that this victory is the result of great effort:

"We kept our promise from last year and became world champions in the team event. Being selected as the world's best coach is more a reflection of the entire team's hard work than a personal achievement. We express our gratitude to the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the National Olympic Committee for their support. Our final day coincided with the 27th of September, a day of remembrance, and our athletes fought until the end to bring joy to our people, understanding the responsibility that came with it."

Winners Vusal Aliyev and Ashraf Ashirov dedicated their victories to our martyrs, while the medalists emphasised that they will work even harder to turn their silver medals into gold in the next season.
