Azerbaijani wrestler Ayxan Cavadov has made a confident start at the U20 World Championship.

According to Offsideplus.az, our world champion defeated French competitor Maqomed Varayev convincingly (9-0) to advance to the quarter-finals. He also overcame Brazilian Pedro Enrike de Souza Rodrigues with a score of 6-2 to secure his place in the semi-finals. Ayxan will face Iranian Amirali Heydari in the semi-finals.

Elmin Aliyev finished his first two matches with early victories. Our compatriot triumphed over Georgian Luka Pipiya and Japanese Rondo Kodama with an 8-0 scoreline. In the quarter-finals, Aliyev defeated Uzbek Bekmurod Rustamov based on the first point principle (1-1). He will meet Belarusian Kiril Valevski in the final.

Esra Mammadli lost in the qualification round to Kazakhstan's Dinara Dauylkızı with a score of 1-7.

Zahra Karimzadeh, who joined the competition from the quarter-finals, defeated Turkish wrestler İlayda Çine with a 'tush' to advance to the semi-finals. Zahra will wrestle against India's Tanu Sharma on her path to the final.

The semi-finals will start at 19:00 Baku time, with the medal matches scheduled for 20:00.
