Azerbaijan's freestyle wrestlers continue their successful performance at the U17 European Championship held in Samokov, Bulgaria.

Offsideplus.az reports that finalists in the 48, 55, 65, 80, and 110 kg weight categories were determined on the fifth day of the competition. Our team secured 3 final spots and 2 bronze medal opportunities.

The performance and match-ups of our wrestlers on the mat:

Huseyn Rzazade (48 kg): Giving his opponents no chance, Huseyn reached the final by crushing Lasha Koridze (Georgia) 9:0, Yigit Egemen (Turkiye) 10:0, and Asilder Asluyev (Russia) 10:0. He will face Volodimir Boyko of Ukraine for the gold medal.

Rashid Nazarov (65 kg): After overcoming Bidzina Jintcharadze (Georgia, 2:2 on criteria), Aydincan Gumusdag (Turkiye, 7:3), and Teymur Abumislimov (Ukraine, 3:1), Rashid defeated Sacha Aubert of France by technical superiority (10:0) in the semifinals. Nazarov will face Maksim Mongush of Russia in the decisive final bout.

Nihad Suleymanli (80 kg): Defeating Rati Revazashvili (Georgia, 7:2), Zeteni Tugyi (Hungary, 7:0), and Radzhab Radzhabov (Russia, 2:0), Nihad also secured his place in the final. His opponent in the gold medal match will be Emirhan Cayir of Turkiye.

Abbas Shafiyev (55 kg): Although he defeated Muhammed Yigit (Turkiye, 8:5) and Patrik Vetrak (Slovakia, 6:0) in the tournament, Abbas lost to Suren Ishkhanyan (Armenia) 4:15 in the semifinals. For the bronze medal, Abbas awaits the winner of the match between Issa Chourayev (France) and Kiril Shumeiko (Hungary).

Hakim Taghiyev (110 kg): Defeating Magomed Omarov (Russia, 2:1) and Adam Kosa (Slovakia, 4:1), our representative lost 0:3 to Murtaz Bagdavadze (Georgia) in the semifinals. His opponent for the third-place match will be the winner of the bout between Marcu Vintan (Romania) and Daniil Zhivula (Belarus).
