Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan have put forward their joint candidacies to host the FIFA U-20 2027 World Cup.

Offsideplus.az reports, citing the AFFA press service, that FIFA has begun evaluating candidacies to host the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

Taking into account the active reforms implemented in the field of football, the created infrastructure and the growing international prestige of Turkic-speaking countries, the football federations of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan have joined forces and put forward their joint candidacies to host the tournament and expressed their full readiness to organize this prestigious competition at a high level.

Today, Azerbaijan, together with Uzbekistan, is fully ready to host such a prestigious competition. A number of stadiums in our country meet international standards.

Azerbaijan has gained significant experience in organizing a number of major tournaments in recent years. This includes some matches of EURO-2020, the final match of the UEFA Europa League, the European Championship among 17-year-olds, and the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.

FIFA and UEFA officials highly appreciated the prestigious tournaments held in Baku.

It should be noted that the FIFA U-20 World Cup is held every 2 years. The most successful teams in this competition are Argentina (6 times) and Brazil (5 times). The last champion is the Uruguayan national team.

The U-20 World Cup will be held in Chile this year. There is no information about other candidates for the next - 2027 - World Cup. Most likely, FIFA will announce the host of the competition, which will be held in 2 years, by the end of this year.
