At the judo World Championship held in Baku, Azerbaijan has secured its fifth medal.
According to Offsideplus.az, Murad Fatiyev, competing in the 90 kg weight category, claimed the bronze medal by defeating Serbian Nemanja Majdov in the match for third place.
Other Azerbaijani judokas who joined the competition today – Sudaba Agayeva (70 kg), Elcan Hajiyev, and Suleyman Shukurov (both 90 kg) – were eliminated in the early rounds, finishing the tournament without medals.
The championship, organised at the National Gymnastics Arena, will conclude on October 11.
It is noteworthy that the national team currently holds five medals. Previously, Ahmad Yusifov (60 kg) won gold, Zelim Tskayev (81 kg) secured silver, while Rashid Mammadaliyev (73 kg) and Omer Rajabli (81 kg) both took home bronze medals.
