The Azerbaijani national football team won the tournament by defeating the Sierra Leone team in a penalty shootout at the “FIFA Series – 2026” international tournament.

Offsideplus.az reports that after the game, Aykhan Abbasov commented on the victory in a flash interview with “CBC Sport”:

“First of all, I would like to thank the fans. They watched an interesting game. Before the game, we said that Sierra Leone was a good opponent. We did not start well in the first half. Playing a game every three days showed fatigue in the players. We have to overcome this path. After the changes in the second half, the team showed character. It will be in our favor to fight against such teams.”

It should be noted that the main time of the match ended with a score of 1:1, and the penalty shootout ended with a score of 9:8.
