Following the goalless draw between Neftchi and Sabah in the seventh round of the Misli Premier League, the guests' head coach Valdas Dambrauskas shared his thoughts.
The specialist commented on the match: "Sometimes lost points can be regained. There are 26 games ahead. Both teams played a bit of an ugly game. It was like a scale – occasionally each team had the upper hand. At times we lost our rhythm. There were players who had just completed a training session. We will try to recover well. We have an important Champions League match coming up on the second day."
When asked about the next game, the head coach said: "Sometimes I don’t understand such questions. Even if it’s difficult, it’s my job. I have to prepare. Everyone faces challenges in life. Your job is difficult too. Sometimes when the result is good, people think it’s easy. This is our job."
Regarding the decision to keep Rakhmonaliyev, Mikels, and Isayev on the bench, Dambrauskas stated: "Sometimes I want the players coming from the national team to play more. They might be tired. I give more opportunities to those I monitor closely. Apart from Puchach and Khaybullayev, no one else was starting who played for the national team. Mikels and Umarali had their first training session with us yesterday."
Concluding his thoughts on the heavy work schedule, the specialist said: "It was a dream for us to play in the Champions League. Saying it will be easy or difficult won’t change anything. Last season, we had more points lost. Now this number is two."
