"Sabah" secured a 2-0 victory against Czech club Slavia Prague in the UEFA Champions League group stage, and renowned expert Shahin Diniyev has shared his thoughts on the match.
In a statement to Offsideplus.az, the experienced head coach congratulated the Baku representatives on their historic achievement:
"I congratulate Sabah on this historic victory. It was a very interesting encounter. The match can be divided into two halves: the first half was completely dominated by Sabah, while in the second half, after we scored, Slavia increased the pressure.
Overall, both teams were well-matched. The statistics and the flow of the game indicated an evenly contested battle. However, Sabah played rationally and managed to distribute their strength effectively throughout the 90 minutes.
Most importantly, the Sabah players showcased creativity and made the most of the goal-scoring opportunities they created. The opponent lacked this skill. Therefore, I believe we earned a fully deserved victory. The team also showed physical resilience, maintaining stable and compact football from the first minute to the 90th.
In my opinion, the best player of the match was Ivan Lepinitsa. His contribution on the pitch was very high, and he played a significant role in this victory."
