"My preparation lasted only two weeks."

These were the words of grappler Aqshin Babayev in an interview with Offsideplus.az.

After defeating Turkish athlete Yunus Emre at the ACBJJ tournament held in Istanbul, Babayev shared his feelings about the victory:

"I received an invitation two weeks before the competition. Moreover, I didn't know my opponent until that time. Later, I was offered to fight in the 80 kg weight category, and I accepted it. To be honest, I hadn't trained in that period. I couldn't train seriously lately due to a broken foot. Nevertheless, I wanted to test my luck.

I was the first Azerbaijani to sign a contract with this organisation. The fight consisted of one round and lasted 7 minutes. I won by the judges' decision."

Babayev also emphasised that his opponent was strong: "He has previously been involved in wrestling. At the same time, he is a world and European champion in kickboxing.

I have already started preparations for my next fight. I will be fighting in Germany in October."

It is worth noting that professional MMA fighter Aqshin Babayev announced last year that he was retiring from his career.
