"Sabah" secured a 2-0 victory against "Slavia" in their first home match of the Champions League.
After the match, "Sabah" head coach Valdas Dambrauskas answered journalists' questions at the press conference:
"We started the game with good pressure. In the first 20-25 minutes, we had 60 per cent possession. As the game progressed, this statistic levelled out. The main reason was that we couldn't fully utilise our players. We played against a very prepared opponent. In the second half, we focused on more concrete issues. One of the key moments was scoring an early goal. We pushed forward and played with more confidence after the goal. I am very pleased that my players showed character. This is a perfect result for us – our first home game and our first victory."
Speaking about promises to the fans, the coach said:
"What can I promise them? I say that we will try to play better. We represent beautiful Baku. I cannot promise anything about the results. We have a tough away match against "Qabala" coming up. After that, we will play against "Borussia"."
In response to a question about their chances of advancing to the playoffs, Dambrauskas replied:
"You can say it however you want (smiling). Right now, I am thinking about the away match against "Qabala" and our training sessions. Also about the next Champions League game."
