In the first round of Group C of the FIBA Europe Cup, Ganja BK's head coach Martin Knezevic made shocking statements after the team suffered a 63-92 defeat to Esenler Erokspor in Turkey.

According to Offsideplus.az, he reported that five players were injured due to a lift accident at the hotel where the team was staying.

In a post on his Facebook account, Knezevic emphasised that the incident occurred the night before the game and that FIBA had rejected their request to postpone the match:

"Last night, the lift in the hotel we were staying in fell three floors, resulting in injuries to five of our players. It is a great fortune that the injuries are not life-changing for the kids. I was not surprised by the result after this incident in that cheap hotel where the opponent placed us.

I would like to extend a special 'thank you' to FIBA for ignoring our request to postpone the game given the number of injured players. You really are the best."

The head coach also claimed that the opposing team had placed them in a cheap hotel.

It is worth noting that although 12 players were listed on Ganja's roster, only 10 took to the court. Aydin Ibrahimov, who was part of the squad, managed to play only 2 minutes and 9 seconds due to injury.
