Greek specialist Ioannis Diamantakos has been appointed as the head coach and coordinator for the Azerbaijani women's national team and all age group women's teams.

According to Offsideplus.az, the Azerbaijan Basketball Federation has signed a two-year contract with the experienced coach.

Throughout his career, Diamantakos has coached clubs in Lebanon, Palestine, Romania, and Saudi Arabia's Al-Ula, winning various titles and holding a PhD in psychology. He shared his thoughts on his new appointment:

"Joining the Azerbaijan Basketball Federation is both a great honour and a significant responsibility for me. I am grateful to the management for the trust shown in me. I look forward to working together not only to prepare the senior national team for the upcoming challenges but also to establish a clear development path for all age group national teams. Our goal is to create a solid foundation for the sustainable development and successful future of Azerbaijani basketball."
