According to the official website of the federation, the team will not participate in the European Championship, which starts today in Mersin, Turkey.

Before leaving for Mersin, the delegation underwent a coronavirus test and all members tested negative. In pandemic competitions, the Local Organizing Committee usually re-tests. As a result of tests in Mersin, coronavirus was detected in 3 Azerbaijani gymnasts.

At present, they are feeling well and will return to Baku after recovery. Other members of the delegation will return to Baku and follow the quarantine regime, as the results of two tests taken in a row in Mersin were negative. Due to the fact that both young and old athletes were among those infected with the virus, and the gymnasts who passed the tests were in contact with them, the national team was forced not to participate in competitions.

The European Championship will end on December 13.
