Five more Azerbaijani heavyweight judokas joined the Grand Slam tournament in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Azerbaijan failed to win a national medal on the last day of the competition, Offsideplus.az reports.

Mammadali Mehdiyev, who won Aurelien Diesse (France), Komronshoh Ustopiriyon (Tajikistan) and Christian Tota (Hungary), reached the semifinals. However, he could not continue his successful series. The athlete, who lost to Nikolos Sherazadishvili (Spain) on the way to the final, also lost to Beka Gviniashvili (Georgia) in the match for the third place.
Zelim Kotsoyev ( 100 kg) defeated Boris Georgiev (Bulgaria) in the first bout. He also defeated Belgian Toma Nikiforov in the 1/8 final. Our representative failed with Onise Saneblidze from Georgia, who also defeated her teammate in the quarterfinals.
Kotsoyev defeated Thomas Briceno (Chile) in a consolation match. However, he lost to Niyaz Ilyasov (Russia) in the bronze medal match.
Another Azerbaijani judoka, Elmar Gasimova, advanced to the 1/8 finals. Although our Olympic medalist Joakim Dvarbi won, Onise Saneblidze (Georgia) lost.

Ushangi Kokauri and Jamal Feyziyev said goodbye to the competition before the start . They were stopped by Jur Spikers (Netherlands) and Seraphim Kompanes (Israel), respectively.
Thus, our team finished the tournament with 15 athletes and 1 gold medal. On the first day of the competition, Davud Mammadsoy (60 kg) became the champion.
This result made our country 10th in the team standings.
